Warm Buffalo Chicken or Turkey Dip with Ranch

click here to get straight to the recipe

Buffalo hot sauce is a popular staple in our house. The very best use for it, in my opinion, is in this Warm Buffalo Chicken or Turkey Dip with Ranch! It is cheesy, savory, and spicy and disappears whenever I bring it to a party.

Looking for a few more dip recipes for your next gathering? Try this Caramelized Onion Dip or Greek Salad Dip for an impressive spread.

    Ingredients

This dip comes together in minutes, so if you are hosting a crowd you'll be free to enjoy your guests.

Ingredients for Warm Buffalo Chicken or Turkey Dip with Ranch are arranged on a black surface.

Shredded Cooked Chicken or Turkey: This recipe works well with light or dark meat from chicken or turkey. The bold flavors mellow out dark meat and the rich dip will help keep breast meat juicy.

Mayonnaise: A few tablespoonfuls of mayonnaise make the dip easy to spread and give it rich flavor.

Cream Cheese: Cream cheese forms the base of the dip and bakes up with a creamy texture.

Ranch Dressing Mix: Just a bit of the powdered dressing mix adds a boost of flavor.

Buffalo Hot Sauce: Choose your own level of spicy here! We go for a milder version to please the crowd.

Blue Cheese Crumbles: The tang from blue cheese can't be beat and I always include it in my Buffalo Chicken Dip.

Shredded Colby Jack: This is a good melting cheese that will give you smooth results and a bit of cheese pull.

    Preparation

Preheat the oven to 375F and grease a 1-quart baking dish. In a medium bowl, stir together the cream cheese, mayo, ranch mix, and hot sauce together until smooth. Stir in the blue cheese, shredded cheese, and chicken and spread in to the baking dish.

I like to place the dish on a sheet pan to make it easy to transfer the dish in and out of the oven. Bake the Buffalo Chicken Dip for 30 minutes, until golden brown on top.

What to serve with buffalo chicken dip?

This is a crowd pleaser, so I usually double the recipe if I'm taking it to a party. I bake a double batch in a 9x13-inch baking dish, and bring along a good variety of dippers.

A celery stick dipped into a cheesy dip with steam coming off of it.

Veggie Sticks: I love carrots and celery sticks as predictable options, but cucumber sticks are great too.

Pretzels: If you can find those flat pretzel crackers, they are ideal for this dip. More dip per pretzel real estate!

Chips: Either tortilla chips or potato chips are great here. Choose a sturdy potato chip so that you don't have little pieces of chips floating in your buffalo chicken dip.

Toasted Baguette Slices: Have a basket of toasted bread nearby and the dipping can go to next-level status.

Baked Potatoes: If you've never tried it before know this: buffalo chicken baked potatoes are delicious! You can make a meal out of a dip and if that's not living your best life, I don't know what is.

    Substitutions and Variations

Use turkey instead of chicken. Buffalo turkey dip is just as delicious and is perfect for day-after-Thanksgiving snacking!

Omit the blue cheese. If blue cheese isn't a favorite at your house, feel free to omit it and make up the difference with shredded cheese.

Swap the Colby jack for sharp cheddar cheese. Jack cheese is such a good melting cheese, but sharp cheddar has a more bold flavor. You can use a blend of cheeses, too!
